I was a late bloomer and didn’t start my yoga practice until I was 65. I became a serious yogi after starting doing yoga with Sherry Yost. Her knowledge and her methods convinced me to always do yoga for so many reasons. As I’ve aged, I really know how important it is to work on balance, stretching and strength and yoga is my favorite method. I love my mat and Sherry is a big reason I will always be a yogi. She is the absolute best!

I am a male physician that always thought yoga was a female endeavor. Thanks to Sherry I completely understand now it is integrated deeply in a healthy lifestyle and even though she left it is part of my life. Sherry is more than an instructor she is a teacher, a friend and above all an example of healthy living. She will be missed in our community.

I am delighted to provide a written statement about my journey through discovery of yoga through your instruction over the last 5 years. It started with chair yoga at the YMCA for a year and moved onto sessions of a full hour of restorative yoga. I have had many muscular and spinal issues from childhood paralytic polio so that continuing with your instruction in restorative yoga sessions became an incredibly important and most helpful part of my life. These sessions continued at my home 3 times a week and then 2 times a week. This then moved into Sherry coming to my home for classes with 5 or 6 ladies in our neighborhood. Sometimes taking place outside on the deck or around the pool or inside with inclement weather. No matter the weather, the classes always took place with pupils who wanted Sherry’s instruction and care. We became known as the yogi group.
The reason this worked so well over 5 years was Sherry’s ability to bring to each session her outstanding training and pure love of teaching to each of us. This, no matter where we were in our physical abilities. My husband joined us as well so not just for females!
When she and Jim made the decision to move to Delaware, we were very happy for them but sad to lose a fantastic friend and teacher.
We knew she would want us to continue our work and our group found another instructor with great qualifications and skills. We all knew that no one would replace Sherry but what Sherry did was very important. She started a small movement in our neighborhood of grounded, caring men and women to keep restorative yoga alive.
For us this is quite a legacy attributed to Sherry.

I’ve had several yoga teachers throughout the years. I can honestly say that Sherry Yost was my favorite. The ladies in our class varied in age and abilities. Sherry adapted the poses to work for each of us. She was completely intuitive of our individual needs. I felt that Sherry’s class was beneficial to me both physically and mentally. Her class was the perfect balance of a physical challenge and a mental calmness. I looked forward to every class.

Sherry Pangle, Yoga Teacher Extraordinaire--
I had the pleasure of being a yoga student of Sherry’s for six years in Georgia. First at Reinhardt University where she taught students, faculty and sports teams in mixed group settings and secondly in a weekly group of participants with varied levels of yoga experience, flexibility and strength.
In both settings, Sherry adapted classes according to student goals, abilities and limitations while exhibiting an inner calmness and caring that literally radiates from her. Sherry’s passion for yoga and nonstop learning about anatomy make her classes challenging but also safe for everyone.

A yoga class led by Sherry Yost is a delightful experience. Sherry draws upon her deep knowledge of anatomy and physiology, yoga, Pilates and meditation to create sessions that meet the person where they are and motivates them to continuously grow in their practice. Her kindness, soothing voice and gentle spirit make the classes exceptional. Each class feels like a gift.
